A Factual Production
A factual production is something that informs you a wide range of creative media activity in all areas of the sector and gives you information about what it is about and giving you an understanding of the activity.
It can be presented its of different ways such as a documentary,a blog, podcast and much more.
I am focusing on documentaries.
The 5 modes of documentary:
Reflexive Mode
The reflexive mode looks at the quality of the documentary itself, processing and considering a conclusion about the documentary.
Performative Mode
This mode looks at how the documentary has been performed and also looks at its emotional and social impact on the audience.
Expository Mode
This mode is what we most identify with the documentary - it emphasizes verbal commentary and argumentative language often using a narrator.
Observational Mode
Observational (objective) emphasizing the documentary filmmaker's engagement in observing the subject's daily life and circumstances and documenting them with an 'unobtrusive' camera.
The Participatory Mode
Unlike the observational mode, the participatory mode welcomes direct engagement between
filmmaker and subject(s) - the filmmaker becomes part of the events being recorded The filmmakers impact on the events being recorded is acknowledged, indeed, it is often celebrated.
